This may sound true enough, buying locally tends to be much more economical but most of us (Pinoy) are greatly paying attention to imported goods and services. We cannot deny that we do often choose to embrace the foreign products because of its quality and the popularity of its brand name. And that’s the reason why the economy is slowly moving forward to the progressive state.
If we
could be devoted mainly to our native products and services, we could actually
push the economy to its highest attaining position.
I would
agree to “Fight the economy, shop to save jobs”. By acquiring and promoting our
own, we can increase the demand to our local suppliers, making it more powerful
and competitive that we don’t have to import so many things.
Shopping
local supports the tax base of the locality. The fact that a larger share of
the peso we spend at the local stores stay and are re-spent in our local
economy, eventually helping our own income by creating more opportunities and
demand, we have to conclude that choosing
locally owned is often the wiser economic move. So then, we can save jobs,
provide more jobs, and make our economy grow.
